Review: Chile v Honduras, Spain v Switzerland, South Africa v Uruguay

Chile v Honduras, Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit
Chile were the better side from the moment the whistle blew. They created chances and Suazo came close. Honduras had no reply for Chile's football. Then in the 34th, a cross was put in at the front post by Beausejour. Halftime: Chile 1.0 Honduras. Chile started the 2nd half just as the 1st, and continued to dominate Honduras. Suazo played well throughout the half, and Honduras hardly created any chances. Final score: Chile 1.0 Honduras

Spain v Switzerland, Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban
Iniesta did start the match for Spain, and they controlled the 1st half. Spain had a free kick just outside the area that David Villa wasted. Despite the possession, Switzerland had held up, and the halftime score: 0.0. The beginning of the 2nd half didn't look much different from the 1st. But in the 54th minute, a very fortunate attack from the Swiss somehow got through Casillas, before Pique saved the ball. He was stepped on though, and the scrapy move ended in a shocking goal putting the Swiss up 1.0. In the 70th, a corner to Spain was played to Xabi Alonso 25 yards out, and he had a stunning effort, that smacked the bar. Torres, Pedro, and Navas all came on as subs, but the fresh legs weren't enough, and the final score: Spain 0.1 Switzerland

Group H
Chile and Switzerland lead the group following their 1.0 wins over favoured Spain and Honduras. Chile will take on Switzerland, and Spain will face Honduras.

South Africa v Uruguay, Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria
Uruguay came out much stronger than South Africa in the opening moments, but neither side really looked threatening. Then, in the 24th, Forlan had time, and his deflected shot dipped off the bar and in, and Uruguay were in front. South Africa came back with some chances, but halftime score was 1.0. The 2nd half was much like the 1st half. In the 74th, Suarez was in and appeared to have rounded Khune, but went down very softly, and a penalty was called. Khune was sent off, and Forlan finished his penalty in the 80th minute. Late in the match, Uruguay got another goal, thanks to Pereira's finish on a cross from Suarez. The match ended: South Africa 0.3 Uruguay
